When I look at this, I'm pulled between a couple of impressions. From a technical standpoint, this piece is very well done. The details on the character-- his fur, the dots of his whiskers, his teeth-- are wonderful. The flames have the right balance between solid and whispy, and the colors of the whole piece are really nice.

On the other hand, some things are strangely persistant in bothering me. His tail is presumably on fire, but it's visually confusing (is there just sideways fire right there?). Same with the smoke around his legs, which reminds me of cartoon characters like Roadrunner, who kick up a perpetual cloud of dust as they move. His arms also seem to be held in a strange position-- ever tried doing that while running? and the composition seems crammed toward the top.

It's a nice piece to look at, though. It's fun, dramatic, and skillful.

This piece is very well done I have no quarrel with the fire or the content, the only thing, and I honestly mean the only thing that remotely bothers me is the lighting across the character. I know this is no easy feat so I do tip my hat to you and congradulate you on the success you have with digital. I have one suggestion on how to fix the lighting on the character to make it blend better it would be to create an overlay layer, taking samples of the deep red background and the orange (not the yellow) of the flames upfront and doing a gradient floodfill over the middle and back layers (everything save for the flames upfront) It might help tie the character in a little bit better?
