The 6 breeds

Depending on the living areas Bloodhounds can differ in anatomy, behaviour and life style.

Here are the six most common breeds you can find on Ileyah and the two moons of the three brothers) on which organic life is possible.



Living Areas

Sand Desert/ Rock Desert/ Canyons

Outer Appearance

• Small, thin, big ears
• Long legs to lift body over the hot desert sand, thick footpads
• Short fur, bright colours to reflect sunlight

Behaviour Life Style

• Used to teamwork
• Friendly, open-hearted, cheerful, yet diligent with high sense for their duties
• Live in large family groups
• Live in caves or whole cities under the ground or in the canyons
• Have sense for finding/collecting water
• Are skilful in working with all kinds of stone
• Hunt for smaller prey, insects and reptiles
• Have to live in fear of bigger predators

Living Areas

Steppes/ Grass Landscapes/ Valleys

Outer Appearance

• Rather “standard” in size and such
• Short stump (?) claws for better running
• Short fur
• Never more than three ground colours, no wild spots or stripes

Behaviour Life Style

• Are used to long travels, can leave things behind and start from the very beginning without losing hope or ambition
• Can interpret the wind
• Aren’t suspicious towards strangers, warm-hearted and kind
• Need much space (not luxury) and light
• They can’t live in dark and narrow places
• They live in great groups which members change constantly (what doesn’t affect their social boundaries)
• Hunting large pray on huge terrain = great runners
• Are masters of survival
• Have build the greatest and most wonderful buildings on Ileyah, even if they don’t live in them most of the time

Deciduous Forests/ Mixed Forests/ Swamps/ Bogs

Outer Appearance

• Similar to the breed mentioned above
• Long fur, partly retractable claws
• Bigger eyes, as mostly active by twilight and night
• Big round ears
• Multicoloured fur, mostly spotted  

Behaviour Life Style

• Most shy of the Bloodhounds
• Can vanish in every hiding place within seconds
• Strong family bounds
• Live in family clans which are spread over the whole terrain
• Build their housings in the large mangrove/ tree roots
• Hunt for small and middle sized prey
• Can use quick killing poison for hunting

Living Areas

Coniferous Forests/ Mountains/ Ice Desert/ Glaciers

Outer Appearance

• Biggest of all Bloodhounds
• Big paws, heavy muscled, partly round ears and short bushy tails
• Non-retractable claws
• Partly thick fur under paws to prevent sliding
• Long fur (summer and winter coat)
• In forest areas rather dark fur (mostly black mixed with other dark colours)
• In snowy regions mostly bright fur (white, grey, light blues)

Behaviour Life Style

• Not necessarily born loners, but can deal on their own very well. Not always easy to get along with
• Are rather grumpy, distrusting, yet fair and protective
• Smallest reproduction rate of all Hounds
• Live mostly in smaller tribes which are scattered over a large area
• Not too social and overly friendly, but when you once proofed your worth you’ll be accepted forever
• Very independent
• Need to hunt in groups or for several days to get the pray tired enough

Tropical Forests/ Lagoons/ Mangrove Forests/ Beaches

Outer Appearance

• Smallest of all Hounds
• Light bones and retractable claws for climbing
• Middle long till long fur
• Multicoloured with stripes dots and everything
• Partly very long flexible tails for keeping balance while climbing

Behaviour Life Style

• Always on the move, almost hectically, very diligent, curious but careful
• Sceptical towards strangers
• Love nature
• New life is “holy” no matter in which form
• Live in cities in the crowns of big trees (think of Ewoks) or cities of stone which are still build in harmony with the surrounding
• Simple housings can also be found
• Are skilful in working with wood
• Eat meat rather seldomly, have great knowledge about plants, herbs

Outer Appearance

• Unknown, but the forest changes the Hounds anatomy

Behaviour Life Style

• Loners, avoiding others, mysterious
• no Hounds are born in this forest, but some single individuals decide to live there out of not understandable reasons


Of course Bloodhounds are mixing amongst themselves. Those breeds above would be that what you could call pure breeds, clean blood, but Bloodhounds do not care if someone is a mix between two breeds or not.

They only keep an eye on the variety, so that no breed gets extincted.

Here is some general information, counting for actually all Hounds:*

The fur can be short till long. But Bloodhounds never have got so much hair that you can’t guess where his front is and where his back is.
The hair can be straight till slightly curled, silky, soft or rough.
There are many fur colours, but Bloodhounds are no parrots. The dominant colours are browns, greys, black and white. Sometimes you can also see dark reds and greens and bits of blue.

The fur can be completely in one colour, two coloured or wild spotted/ striped.

The eye markings have always the same shape and have always two colours.

The sign on their head is always golden (except if in stage of blood-fever).


*An exception might be the Bloodhounds who lived in the crystal forest long enough. They are mutants, who differ from the mass.
